“As a visual artist, I derive my work from personal history and experience. I am reminded that everywhere we walk, work
and live, the land covets a story—we have a story—and there’s a lot left untold. Let’s share these stories together.”
Jennifer A. Uihlein is an award-winning New York–based photographer, gallery curator, and independent documentary filmmaker whose work centers on storytelling through visual media. Working across photography, film, and curatorial practice, she explores authentic human experience with a focus on memory, connection, and cultural narrative.
Her multidisciplinary practice spans fine art photography, photojournalism, and short-form documentary, shaped by a thoughtful and dynamic approach to image-making. As the founder of Girl in a Camera Productions, her no- and low-budget documentary films have received international recognition, screening at festivals for their emotional depth and cultural relevance.
Uihlein’s work is grounded in a commitment to accessibility and inclusion, creating platforms where art fosters intergenerational dialogue and meaningful exchange. Her images invite viewers to slow down, observe closely, and engage more deeply with the stories they encounter.
Her work has been presented in gallery exhibitions and is held in museum gallery stores, independent bookstores, independent poetry publications, and private collections. She is the recipient of the Polly Bond Award of Excellence for Photography (2025, 2026).
She is also the creator of Unscripted: Artists Outside the Frame, a forthcoming vodcast highlighting Long Island’s creative community through inclusive, artist-centered storytelling. Her work is available at the Nassau County Museum of Art Gallery Store and appears in the 2025 Northport Poetry Path and the Nassau County Poet Laureate Society Review (2025).
